Wildlands Creative secures grants from funding bodies and raises donations from the general public to fund investigative journalism, independent documentaries, and multimedia projects.
Our work focuses on under-reported stories about environmental and social injustice. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us.
Crowdfunding is a way of raising finance online by asking a large number of people each for a small amount of money to invest in your project. Thanks to the generosity of 127 supporters, we raised over £15,000 in just 28 days through crowdfunding to cover the post-production costs of our Voices on the Road documentary. This led to a partnership with international conservation organisation, IUCN NL, who generously committed to match fund all donations (see below).
IUCN NL generously match funded donations to our crowdfunding campaign, donating over £7,000 to our Voices on the Road documentary. IUCN NL is the Dutch national committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the world’s largest and most diverse environmental network. IUCN is the global authority on the status of the natural world and the measures needed to safeguard it.
The SES granted our film expedition £10,000 through their Neville Shulman Explorer Award for Expedition Filmmaking, enabling us to report on a road being built through a protected area the Amazon. The SES funds and supports scientific discovery, research and conservation in remote parts of the world. The Society is one of the longest running exploration organisations in the world, with an unrivalled record of initiating over 150 expeditions since it began.
