How to run an environmental campaign that inspires action and lasting support? Find out what Wildlands Creative learnt

For a successful campaign, all you have to do is to communicate messages that resonate with your audience and inspire them to take action. Seems pretty simple, right? When you try and do it, suddenly it seems impossibly hard.

When you’re passionate about an issue, it can seem utterly baffling why other people aren’t. Isn’t it obvious why we must save endangered species, or why taking action on climate change is urgent? For some people, these issues simply aren’t important.

What’s even more baffling is to try and understand why the people who do care about these issues are not taking action.

So how do we reach out to these audiences, craft messages that are meaningful to them, and inspire them to act?

This was the problem facing Sigrid Shreeve, director of Voices for Nature. She wanted to launch a campaign to raise awareness and inspire action for the Brazilian rainforest ahead of the Olympic Games 2016.

She commissioned Bethan from Wildlands Creative to help develop a communications strategy, write publicity material, set up a website and write online content, and grow a social media network.

What did Voices for Nature think?

Bethan helped the campaign from its first beginnings, not only with regards to written communications and visual media but also our hands-on stakeholder engagement programme. She is passionately committed to conservation, generous and a joy to work with and always prepared to go the extra mile. She always delivers on time and under pressure. Our website and social media presence are testimonial to her commitment, knowledge and skills.
